Moving day is always very emotional. My kids cry to leave their friends. I cry because it is pretty stressful packing everything into our three carryons and catching planes and navigating new cars and cranky children. Moving days always make me feel my singleness more than usual. I envy the mom who sits with the kids while the dad goes to get the food. I'm jealous of the dad who can take his son into the bathroom. But my kids are pretty independent little people and we manage okay.
Big House Big Island
We have a house here. The first honest to goodness house we have lived in since we left our own four months ago. There are three stories three bedrooms and more square footage than our past three homes put together. The third story is just one amazing bedroom surrounded by windows on all sides. There is a spiral staircase leading up to it and the kids have already learned how to slide down the spiral banister.
We are on the Hilo side of the island this month. This is where the volcano eruption is happening. A near by town maybe evacuated. But we are out of the lava flow. Worst case, we could have our main road covered in lava. This would just mean some detours. Not a huge deal. And tonight we get to go watch the lava flow.
